The Challenge

Help them today…
so they can help your organization in the future!  Middle school students need to be motivated to seek Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education programs to prepare them for 21st Century careers.

For many decades, research, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship in the U.S. have provided economic progress, national security and a quality of life that has been the envy of other nations. U.S. leadership position in these disciplines has been eroding in recent years. Clear signs already exist in the form of job-migration, outsourcing of services and production supplies and huge trade deficits that convey a trend toward a declining position in the global economy.

Your donation will help American students to regain a competitive edge in global markets, research and development. Help them become part of the Challenger Learning Center education programs.

The Solution

The Challenger Learning Center educational program helps to develop future trained work forces by motivating middle school students. Students are encouraged to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) courses along with other important studies including reading and writing. These studies will help students build skills and habits that are needed for 21st Century careers.

Sponsor organizations will obtain proactive publicity attracting workers qualified in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math from Tech Valley. Your sponsorship will make it possible for as many as 10,500 students each year, in 19 counties of upstate New York, to experience a hands-on STEM educational program.

Invest in your future trained work force. Investment opportunities are available to help the Challenger Learning Center of Tech Valley reach its goal to open in the fall of 2010. Investors receive a Return On Investment that begins at seven percent the first year.

Imagine if we could entice 5th to 8th graders to love science,
technology and math by enticing them with voyages to the
Moon and Mars — actually working at a Space Station or Mission Control, exploring space in a journey of their imaginations grounded in hands-on experience.

The core of the Challenger Learning Center’s programs is teaching science curriculum, problem-solving and teamwork during more than 300 annual missions. In an even-broader role, Challenger will act as a catalyst for career pathways in science, math and engineering to
help develop the future workforce of New York State’s Tech Valley.

The Challenger Learning Center is one of a network of similar Space Education Centers throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Our Center in Tech Valley will reach students throughout the Capital Region, Mid-Hudson Valley, the North Country all the way
to the Canadian border, and Western Massachusetts. Initially, we will serve 10,500 students, drawing from the 93 school districts in our 19-county region, and 35,000 students from 77 districts in the surrounding counties...

Tech Valley’s Challenger Learning Center will give middle-school students the rare opportunity to actively participate in simulated space missions in a state-of-the-art facility based in the Schenectady Museum of Science and Technology.
